比尔-西蒙斯说：“如果马刺已经完成了（杜兰特的交易），只是还没有公布，我不会感到惊讶。他们可能已经基本就细节达成了一致，但要等到选秀时才能公布。这件事情可以从字母哥的潜在交易开始说起，我觉得马刺交易杜兰特，只是因为需要付出的代价和筹码更低。他们将会真正成为竞争者，也许能在季后赛中打上几轮。但他们也会在保住榜眼签的情况下引进杜兰特，这就是我的预测。”
比尔-西蒙斯还表示，这不是什么内部消息，所以太阳和马刺之间也有可能什么都不会发生。但如果杜兰特最终被交易到了马刺，也并不奇怪，因为两队一直因杜兰特联系在一起。
